Adverse reactions

The following serious adverse reactions are discussed elsewhere in the labeling: Cardiovascular Disorders Malignant Neoplasms The most common adverse reactions (≥ 10 percent) with Menostar are: upper respiratory tract infections, pain, arthralgia, and leukorrhea. 6.1 Clinical

Trials Experience Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in practice. Menostar was investigated in a 2-year double blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study in the United States. A total of 417 postmenopausal women (208 women on Menostar, 209 on placebo) 60 to 80 years old, with an intact uterus were enrolled in the study. At 24 months, 189 women remained in the Menostar group and 186 remained in the placebo group. Adverse events with an incidence of ≥5 percent in the Menostar 14 mcg group and greater than those reported in the placebo group are listed in Table 1.
